The Department of Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering (E & ECE) of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur is organizing International Conference on Communication, Computers and Devices (ICCCD) 2010 on the eve of the 60th anniversary the institute. The objective is to provide a forum for presentation of latest developments, ideas and their applications to the practice of communication, computers and device engineering. Another major goal is to promote academic- industry interaction and foster collaboration. Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Ex-president of India and Ex-director of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Launch Vehicles/Systems, will be the honourable chief guest of the conference.
IIT Kharagpur was established in 1951 and is the forerunner of the IIT system of education in the country. The Department of Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering started functioning right from inception engaging actively in teaching and research in all current areas of Electronics Engineering. Its alumni occupy key positions in science and technology, education and industry both within the country and abroad.

On 10 Dec 2010, honourable Ex-president Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam inaugurated ICCCD 2010 with a fine speech on "New Frontiers of Technology". Following his inaugural address, Dr. Kalam had an interactive session at IIT Kharagpur Senate Hall with the students and expressed his views on "Life: Progress, Challenges and Growth".
